Mera Peak (6,461m/ 21,190 ft) is the highest trekking peak in Nepal which is an exciting trekking peak and scenically beautiful peak of the Khumbu valley. Mera peak is situated on the edge of famous Khumbu Region which is dominated by Mt. Everest. It is an adventure peak with technical difficulties but offers from it’s summit stunning views of the world’s 8000 meter mountains- Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu. It is the best for those who loves technical climbing and have previous climbing experience. You need to have an excellent physical fitness and an extrovert sense of adventure. Our Mera peak climbing itinerary has been carefully designed to allow gradual acclimatization for the climbers. The walking trip would be through the Hinku valley, with beautiful forests and incredible mountains along the way. It is the best option for adventure seekers, our itinerary is carefully designed.
As you finally reach the majestic Mera peak, officially the highest trekking peak in Nepal, you find yourself looking down towards many magnificent natural landscapes. You will have a direct view of the southern face of the Everest . Moreover, you will have many rare glances of watershed area, the wild and heavily wooded valleys Hinku and Hongu Drangkas. In this route to the Mera (Peak), you can experience the very rare chances of venturing through little visited and un-spoilt regions of Nepal where the hillsides still remain densely forested for everyone’s pleasure.
As you set to trek towards Mera Peak, you get great pleasure by reaching heights above 21,000 feet and looking down on the whole earth. You will be marching through the Hongu and the Hinku valleys which have remained uninhabited, although there are Kharkas, places for cattle grazing in the Upper Hinku basin where Sherpa from the South, near Pangkongma, are occasionally seen grazing their cattle during the grass- growing monsoon season. As you pass through the upper Hongu basin, you will march through a mountainous wilderness. You will also venture through some beautiful forests, massive moraines, glacial lakes and spectacular peaks that include Charmlang and Baruntse
A representative from Absolute H.J Sherpa Trekking will be waiting for you at airport holding your and the company's name. You will be transferred to your designated hotels; welcoming dinner is served.
Your guide for trekking will help out with the preparation; this day will also be used for last minute shopping. Sightseeing to Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath with certified tour guide. Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath are included in World Heritage Site. It carries religious significance with astonishing beautifies and carvings.
After breakfast your guide will transfer you at the airport and take a short flight to Lukla-30min. You will see the beautiful mountain view from window. From Lukla, You will start your trekking to Chhuthang. You will walk 4 hours all the way to Chhuthang.
You will have breakfast in Chhuthang and head towards Tuli Kharka. You will climb up to Zatrawal la Pass. From the top of it you can enjoy the view of Kongdi Ri, Karyolang peak, Lumding Himal and many more. You will descent to chatra la to Tuli Kharka.
After breakfast you will leave Tuli Kharka behind follow the trail which goes to Hinku Valley. Trail will goes ascent and descent however you will enjoy the outstanding view of rhododendrons, pines, and oaks forest. After you enter in Hinku valley you will get first view of Mera peak. You will ascent the hills with the view of Mera peak and other several mountains. After few minute you will descent down the hills. You will reach Kothe.
Today you will walk through Hinku river and river trail leads you to Gondishung. From Gondishung you will walk few miles to Lungsumgba gompa; 2 century old Buddhist gompa. You will see the rock art on the way and after walking few miles you will reach to Thangnak.
Today trek will be little bit difficult as you will pass through moraine way. The trial will be steeper than the earlier one. You will walk 4 hours to uphill until you reach Khare.
Today is a acclimatize day for you to adjust your body with high altitude. You can also explore Khare village if you like. Your experience guide climber will conduct a pre-training session before climbing the peak.
Today you will leave khare early in the morning. You will walk steep trail of Mega glacier. It will be challenging and difficult day for you due to altitude. You have to reach a top of glacier to arrive at Mera Peak Base Camp. In Base camp, You will ahce some food and arrange the equipment. After reaching Mera High Camp you will set up the tent camp and have leisure time.
You will wake up early in the morning around 12-1am and head towards the summit. You have to climb peak before noon because at noon wind flow strong which cause more difficulties. Follow the guide structure careful will be easy for you to climb Peak successful. From top of the peak you will see the view of Everest(8848m), cho-oyu(8,210m), Lhotse(8,516m), Makalu(8,463m) and many more. After enjoying the view you will descent down the high camp. Celebrate the success by drinking tea/ soup it times for us to head back to Khare.
It is a reserve day for you in case of any bad weather happen.
After breakfast you will pass through Thangnak. You will follow the same route before coming up to Mera peak. You will descent down to forest( rhododendron, pine and oaks) and after few miles you will reach to Kothe.
After breakfast you will leave Kothe and move ahead to Tuli Kharka. The trail goes ascent and descent on the way.
From Tuli Kharka you will move to Lukla by passing through zatrawal la pass.
Today after breakfast, you will fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. After landing Kathmandu you will be transferred to the hotel.
